Eva Mendes has said she isn't worried about being stereotyped.

As an actress who's never shied away from playing women who embrace their sexuality, the Bad Lieutenant star said she didn't mind being known as "the sexy girl".

"I've never felt exploited, I've never felt like I've played into something I've not wanted to play into and I take full responsibility for the image I have out there - I've made a career out of it," she said.

"Now what I can do is really focus on the roles that I want, that weren't coming to me when I was a little younger, because I was just considered the sexy girl."

Eva hopes people are surprised once again by her appearance in The Other Guys alongside Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

"I think with a role like this, I play into my sexiness a bit but obviously it shows I have comedic range, and as long as I keep pushing and challenging myself, it's all good."
