Eva Mendes has revealed that she wishes people would see past her looks.

The actress admitted to Access Hollywood that she uses her sexuality to get ahead but said that there is more depth to her.

Mendes explained: "I'm very comfortable with my sexuality and my femininity and I use it, whether it's in a film opposite Denzel Washington in Training Day or for a Calvin Klein campaign.

"I'm very proud of those things. I'm very comfortable with myself and my sexuality, but it doesn't define me. I also read books believe it or not."

The 36-year-old also said that she chose to star in her latest movie The Other Guys, in which she plays a girl-next-door, to move away from her usually sexy roles.

She continued: "I just want to be known for things other than my sexuality."
